David Greenberg

David Greenberg sings songs that the Oberlin Review call "deceptively lighthearted." Preoccupied with love and death from an early age, and inspired by the great pop singers of the 1960's and others, David began writing his own songs. Since then, he has been trying to play them all over the place, and has released an album and a split, with another full-length planned for the future.

Why He's So Antifolk
Antifolk is for the people, and has been kind enough to let me in. I love that it is based around a welcoming event that attracts such a wide variety of performers and characters. The openness of it all keeps it exciting, with new people constantly showing up, and they're fantastic! The sincerity never goes away. It is rare to find such a scene nowadays, with no false motives and real enthusiasm.
The fact that anyone can be heard leads to such a variety of artists, ones that you could never find elsewhere. The first time I played at the Sidewalk, I heard Debe Dalton, Domino, Lach, M. Lamar, Maytal, Ben Krieger...and was absolutely blown away! I am always surprised by what I hear from Antifolk, it seems that everyone is constantly experimenting and growing, and are really excited all the time.
